It’s Monday, what’s on your plate for breakfast this morning? So ever since I’ve been trying to get ready for my Bali vacation I’ve cut the carbs on Monday Wednesday and Friday’s so my breakfast aren’t all that exciting but I try and make foods I enjoy eating . The eggs aren’t so picture perfect but it’s reality haha then a perfect half avocado, and sautéed spinach and took beef stick and pan seared it for a few min 😋

“Back” at it today! After a busy weekend it’s nice to get in the gym and go heavy!🏋🏻‍♂️ wanted to work with some heavy weight today it’s always good to keep mixing up set structures and keep your muscles guessing. Deadlift is one of the most complex lifts you can do and it works just about every muscle in your body! That means there is A LOT that can go wrong. I like recording my lifts like this because I constantly need to get better and I can act as my own trainer by critiquing my own form.
The big thing you want to focus on in deadlift is moving your hips and chest as one unit. As you see in my lift I start my hips a little before my chest which causes a little extra stress on my lower back and glutes. I also could sit back a little further and keep that bar against my shins. That acts as a good cue that I am keeping my back fully engaged through the lift as a “pull” the bar against my legs. Lastly I should’ve held the top longer on my second rep but my grip was actually the first to fail on this so I had to go down. Looks like straps might be a good idea when going heavy again!

If used with a light weight and intervals it is also a very good calorie burner, so can be used as an alternate cardio exercise.

With the help of my client Deborah @danyelloha and Chloe @chloeesn we made a short video clip and we tried to deliver a message of not to drop weights recklessly on gym floor.
In my humble opinion I’d say dropping weights is neither a sign of power nor it impresses anyone.
So Deborah is typically someone who is on the next bench and annoyed when I dropped the dumbbells and then the same woman will give me an impressive smile when I’ll re-rack the dumbbells considerably . PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO HER FACE REACTION IM TWO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS 🤣 ❗️If noise motivates you , please turn up the volume of your headphones.
❗️when dumbbells hit the floor , it always bounce and we Won’t know which direction it will fall . I have seen a guy got his pinky toe badly injured by someone dropping next bench .
❗️if it can’t be re-racked without dropping, it’s too heavy . Train muscles not ego.
❗️That hot girl will be impressed when you lift considerably with the right from , a calm before the storm is more impressive .
❗️Please create a safe and sound environment in the gym .

I made it to the gym this morning. I worked out once in the last eleven days and that primarily due to adaptation fatigue (not depression fatigue!).

Unexpected significant changes really throw me off my game and they have for a long time because I have been adapting to unexpected significant changes for years with basically no real period of secure stability.
I mentioned this to my therapist (what up @talkspace), about how I am so much less likely to take risks or even just make calculated changes in my life because I am just so worn down from navigating the unfamiliar without the support I need. It was kind of a great moment of clarity because feeling 'stuck' is not a good feeling but I also felt complacent because it was like I was just lying down for the crummy circumstances that I've been facing.
That's not it at all though. This is like the cocoon phase of caterpillar metamorphosis. It's a painful, messy process even though it doesn't look like much is happening from the outside. I am very slowly recovering and gaining back strength and learning new skills to come out of all of this a different but better version of myself.
There's no point in judging myself in how I handle anything. I am doing the best I can with what I have at that moment.
All that matters is that I keep moving forward.
