I had to take it easy after yesterday, i woke up feeling pretty beat up and it took me a little longer than normal to bounce back. I went for my pull session and still managed to increase my weights as programmed (lol) despite feeling like i should have stayed in bed all day. Hopefully i’ll recover enough for bench and squats tomorrow.

DO YOU HAVE TO MEAL PREP?

The short answer is no but if you want to make your life easier prepping your meals is the way to go. There are more reasons TO do it than to not:

1. TIME: Cooking your food a few days in advance saves you from being in the kitchen everyday. You can grab your meals as you leave for work in the morning.

2. MONEY: A typical lunch out will cost you anywhere from $10-20. A pack of turkey only costs $6 and the protein lasts you 2-4 meals. See the difference?

3. MACROS: The only way to know exactly what is in your food is if YOU are the one cooking it. If you’re cooking from home you can measure and track every single ingredient. Some restaurants list nutrition info on their website or menu, but not all of them. Not to mention most places drown their food in butter and oil.

4. CRAVINGS: Most people wait wayyy too long in between meals. If you are hangry you’re more likely to reach for anything you can get your hands on, and overeat. While it’s not super necessary (you can eat 2-3 big meals), eating frequently throughout your day stabilizes your blood sugar and keeps cravings to a minimum.

5. DIGESTION: Your body craves consistency. If you are eating the same foods and portions everyday your digestion will be much smoother.

THIS ONE’S FOR THE LADIES. .

I took 4 whole days off my “diet” last week😵 <—— that’s what old Molly would’ve looked like and that’s probably what most women look like when they take a few days off. Ashamed. Defeated. Down on themselves. WHY!!? Y’all, I drank beer, ate pizza and milkshakes, a cheeseburger, fries, and drank more beer. You know how far back it set me? IT DIDN’T. The problem with most of our mind sets is that we have this “all or nothing” mentality, instead of actually living a healthy, FULL life while still getting to enjoy the things we love. .

What I’m trying to say is that a few days off isn’t going to kill you. It’s not going to make you fat. You’re not going to lose all your muscle. But what an unhealthy relationship with food will do is cause you to binge after you feel like you’ve messed up, go on restrictive diets and then get tired of them so you end up binging again, and you get stuck in this yo-yo effect of losing weight and gaining it all back. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING; THAT IS NOT HEALTHY. .

Ladies!!!!! For theeeee looovveeeeeee stop getting stuck in this cycle!! Do I believe that at certain points and for very specific reasons should you have a restrictive diet? Yes. Absolutely. But that is NOT how you should live your life everyday. Moral of the story is, LOVE YOUR BODY. Just because you messed up on Monday doesn’t mean the rest of the week has to be absolute 💩. .

/pull which gave me a 500kg total and the overall win 😅😅
I went along to support a mate and ended up jumping in for a laugh.
With no training or prep I managed
150-170-180 bench and
270-300-320 deadlift

This is one of the best rehabilitation exercises I give patients to help start strengthening their core and building foundational balance in their torsos. This also helps develop proper stimulation of right/left brain hemispheric firing patterns.

Video 1) Shoulder Flexion-- start by making sure you're in a quadriped position with your belly button tucked into your spine. Hips are over your knees and your shoulders are over your wrists. Keeping your back flat, raise your arm straight in front of you turning your hand so your thumb is up. Only raise it to shoulder height. Return to starting position and repeat on the other side.

Video 2) Hip Extension-- same starting position as Shoulder Flexion. Pretend to kick and lead with your heel straight out behind you. Reach only to hip height, then return to starting position. Repeat on other side. .

Video 3) Alternating Sides-- same starting position, simply perform the movements using alternate sides (right arm/left leg, left arm/right leg). .
.
Make sure in all these positions that you are bracing your core so that you don't shift yourself side to side.

On the other hand chicken is something I eat multiple times a day each and everyday. While foods like chicken can be more precisely tracked as well since it’s a chicken, the nutritional information doesn’t change whereas foods with nutrition labels such as Oreos can be off by as much as 25% so that 140kcal serving of Oreos can actually be anywhere from 105-175 kcals. If you’re struggling to lose weight and get in shape make the initial start by switching to Whole Foods rather than packaged foods and watch how quickly you response since the kcals you’re tracking will be what they’re supposed to be. That being said highly recommend these Oreos before they’re gone from stores again!!
